We are desperate for volunteer drivers at the moment!  Anyone who may be able to help us out please get in touch with us at office@headwaydorset.org.uk or phone Headway on 01202 606560.

We are looking for 2 enthusiastic volunteers to work with a trained occupational therapist in running a 12 week Women’s group, promoting self esteem and confidence in women who have survived brain injury.

The program includes:-

Education sessions on self esteem, confidence building and body image, employment and training opportunities, and self defence. Activities also include, Rock climbing, meditation and yoga, party hair, arts and crafts and a photo shoot. At the end of the 12 week course, all the group members are offered the opportunity to be involved in a charity fundraiser in the form of a fashion show
Location:-     Bournemouth
Start Date:-     Jan 18th (TBC)
End Date:-    April 6th (TBC)

What we need:-

2 volunteers who can commit to attending the weekly session. The majority of sessions will be in the early evening (6-8pm), with some activities happening in the day (for example the rock climbing session, yoga and meditation class)
Your role will be to support the facilitator, and giving extra support to clients who may need it. This could involve, for example, working with a client on a work sheet if they need support with their reading or writing, helping to facilitate group discussions, encouraging quieter members of the group to interact. There could also be opportunities to develop and run individual sessions.

What you get:-

Basic training on brain injury and brain injury rehabilitation
The opportunity to work 1:1 and in a group with clients who have survived brain injury
Learn about developing and facilitating groups
See how peer support and education sessions can impact on clients well being
Understand the process of evaluating groups
A written report of your involvement in the group that can be used as evidence in your CPD
Experience to put on your CV
Volunteers of Headway Dorset can apply to us for references

If you are interested please contact Danni Williams on ot@headwaydorset.org.uk.
