Headway Dorset is a Disability Symbol User and welcomes all applications for volunteering opportunities. As part of this commitment, all applicants, including those with a disability will be invited into the organisation to discuss current volunteering. Volunteering Opportunities As a charity, volunteers are very important to us. Every volunteer is a valued member of the team, having the opportunity to take part in training events and to really make a difference within the organisation.
Some of the activities you could be involved in at Headway Dorset are swimming, cookery, craft, music, art, photography and horse riding or even a Conservation or gardening project.
WE URGENTLY REQUIRE VOLUNTEERS TO WORK ON OUR BEFRIENDING SCHEME. This scheme operates throughout the county. Isolation is a big barrier to people after brain injury so if you think you could help someone by taking them swimming, to a short college course or just out for coffee, please contact us.
Janet, a volunteer on the Buddy Scheme, writes the following " I was introduced to the Buddy Scheme in November 2003 by Poole Volunteer Bureau. I started meeting a lady soon after the introduction. We soon found that we had lots in common, relating to our childhood and soon also became very aware of each others feelings. I was later introduced to a second lady, again we shared a lot of interests. We go out to interesting places, for a few hours. We can do just "girlie" things such as window shopping, walks, pursuing hobbies. The buddy scheme has very much been a two way process of enjoyment for each of us."
If you have a few hours to spare each week and have an interest you would like to share then we would love to hear from you.
