Psychology

The psychology service at Headway Dorset sees both people who have an acquired brain injury and their relatives/ carers. The service offers two different types of intervention, neuropsychological assessment, and psychological therapy for adjustment and mood problems related to brain injury. Neuropsychological assessment consists of standard tests, which are mainly questions and puzzles. The results of these tests give an indication of peoples’ strengths and weaknesses in areas of cognitive functioning such as memory, planning, organisation etc., which gives information towards developing rehabilitation programmes.  The psychology service also provides input to groups at Headway including carers’ groups.
