Gardening Group  - Physical, Cognitive and Vocational rehabilitation

Mondays - 10.00am to 3.00

The Gardening group is part of our joint work with Holten Lee. We carry out projects around the 350 acres of grounds, including heathland, saltmarsh, reedbed and woodland. The majority of the site is recognised and protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Work carried out has included ) W)

  • Conservation
  • Clearing Heath land
  • Designing and construting an accesible garden using reclaimed materials from on site

We also work in the community on gardens of customers who are unable to maintain it themselves or help charities with projects on occasions

What we do:

  • Digging
  • Weeding
  • Grass cutting
  • Strimming
  • Hedge cutting

What you need to bring:

  • A packed lunch or money to buy lunch.
  • Old clothes and steel toed footwear.
  • Waterproofs.

What we will supply:

  • All tools
  • Machinery
  • Safety equipment required

Swimming Group -

Thursdays 11am to Midday

We meet at Broadstone Leisure Centre, Station Approach, Broadstone. BH18 8AX.

This swimming session is free for customers with disabilities.

What we do:

We attend safe swimming sessions supervised by a physiotherapist, rehab coach and lifeguards.

What you need to bring:

  • A £10 deposit for a locker key
  • Swimming costume/trunks
  • A towel

What we provide:

Headway and Broadstone Leisure Centre can provide some equipment like floats and woggles but you may want to bring your own swimming equipment.

 

 

Allotment Group

Thursday 12.30pm to 3.30pm

We meet Parkstone Allotments or at Headway Dorset and travel to the allotment in our minibus. 

What we do:

We take home fruit and vegetables to cook and eat.
 We  grow and maintain fruit, vegetables and flowers.
 

What you need to bring:

A drink
Old clothes
Steel toed footwear

What we provide:

Headway provide all tools, machinery, plants, seeds and safety equipment required.
