Sex and sexuality after brain injury

The Course and Trainer

Sexual and relationship problems are frequently reported following acquired brain injury and research suggests that not all of it is due to organic damage.

This workshop, led by trained psychosexual therapist and couple counsellor Steve Shears or psychosexual therapy trainer and supervisor, Elaine Ackroyd, looks in a practical way at the view that sexual and relationship education and therapy should be an essential part of brain injury rehabilitation and how it can be included in programmes. This is an introductory level course on how brain injury affects sexuality and sexual functioning and we would recommend that prospective delegates discuss their attendance with Steve prior to booking on the course to make sure the level is appropriate for them as we also have available another two day extension course aimed at a higher level and the whole three days can be delivered as a bespke 'in-house' course.

The outcomes of this workshop will be to further participant's knowledge about brain injury and sexuality and to increase their confidence in dealing with sex and sexuality as a normal part of rehabilitation concerns for survivors and their partners.

All of our open courses attract CPD points for solicitors.
